We are pleased to announce that version 4.9 for mobile devices is available. This version has a new UI to play a local game, a new UI to select a player for an online game, and a new code for the online gaming. Also, in the Settings screen we set if we wish to play an online Tournament game.
The screenshots that are used here are from the iOS version. But, both versions have a similar UI.
Main Screen
In the previous versions a user could browse the available game by using the left and right arrows, like you see in the next image.
In version 4.9 these buttons and the button named “Play Online Game” are removed. This greatly increased the size of the screenshot for the selected game. Furthermore we browse the games by scrolling our finger on that screenshot.
At the bottom of the screen we see the name of the selected game and two buttons: LOCAL and ONLINE. As it is anticipated the Local button will take us to the screen to set the options for the selected game. Did you notice the number in parenthesis in the 2nd button? That button indicates the number of players who are available for an online game for that game.
Local Game
This screen is the same with the previous versions, except of course that now is slightly bigger. It is split in two sections: At the top section to set our opponent : Computer or Human. In the former case we also need to set the level of difficulty: Novice, Apprentice and Master. In the latter case we chose between Local and Bluetooth.
At the bottom section we have three options: We can play this game with coins (no ads) or with ads or we can purchase it. If we purchase it then there will be only one button, the “Play” button.
Online Game
In the old versions in order to play an online game we had to tap on the button “Play Online Game”. That would bring up the list of the available players. We then had to tap on a player and select the game that we want to play with that player. Too cumbersome!!!
In version 4.9 once we have selected the game that we are interested in, we simple tap on the Online button. We already know how many players are available.
We then tap on a player to invite him/her to a game.
Settings Screen
The only thing that we changed in the Settings Screen is that in the section “Online Game” we added the option to play a Tournament game.
We are aware that not all players wishes to play a Tournament, and hence this is set to OFF by default. For the sake of competence, in a tournament game you play the games: Backgammon (Portes), Blockgammon (Plakoto) and Narde (Fevga) in that order until one of the players achieves the winning score. That score is fixed and equal to 3.
Code for Online Game
We will talk about this code in a different article. For know it suffices to say that this code is not compatible with the previous versions and that it is very stable as we fixed many issues. Because of that you can play against players who run iOS version 4.9 and higher (for now).
