In iOS version 5.4 we added the feature of creating a custom chip. The process is simple and it consists of only 3 steps. Once you create a chip you can select to use it in the games (both Local and Online). You can even select a custom chip for your opponent (only for Local games). There is no limit in the number of custom chips that you can create. Note, however, that that custom chip will be visible by other online players
Settings Page
We start by opening the Settings page.
In the Settings page among other things, we can select which chip to use in a game. We select the chip both for us and for the opponent (only for Local games). At the bottom of the Player’s Info section, we find the button Create your chip, we tap on it and we see the page on the right.
The first step in creating a custom chip is to pick a photo from the album. Once again, we can pick any photo we like, but, note, that the chip will be visible by other players in an online game. We tap on the button Add Photo, and we select a photo.
Cropping the Photo
A chip has the shape of a circle, so in order to create one, we need to crop a circle from the selected photo. It sounds like a difficult task, and that’s why we have created all the tools that you will need for this task!
On top of the selected photo we see a circle. We can move it around the photo and we can resize it with the pinch gesture (put your thumb and index finger on the photo, and move them apart or bring them closer). The area of the photo that is under the circle will be our chip. Once we are satisfied with the result, we tap on the button Crop, to crop the circle
Add Gradients
Now that we have a circular image, we need to add some gradients in it so that it looks like a chip. Namely, we need to create the effect of a hollow at the center. Once again, we have created all the tools that you will need for that.
At the right end of the page, we find two new buttons: Remove Outer Gradient and Remove Inner Gradient. We can tap on them to set them off or on. When we are satisfied with the result we tap on the Save button to save our newly created chip.
Custom Chip in a Game
When we tap on the Save button, the screen for creating a chip is closed, and we go back to the Settings page. The newly created chip is already selected as our chip in the games (both Local and Online).
We can tap on the left and right arrow buttons to change the chip. We save our changes by tapping on the x button, in the top right corner. Then, in a game we see the newly created chip.
Enjoy the game!
